Ms. Ortiz is a native of Madrid, Spain who adopted the Rio Grande Valley as her home after graduating from college with a B.A. in Political Science from the University of North Texas. She continued her education and earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Texas at RGV while working as a manager and consultant for local water districts. It was her passion for environmental and water law that motivated her to temporarily move away from the Valley and pursue her law degree.

While in law school, she was selected by the Texas Tech University Civil Law Clinic to practice law under the supervision of her professors, received the Distinction Award for Academic Excellence in Natural Resources Law, and was selected to intern with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) Department of Legal Services in Austin, TX. She graduated with a J.D. from Texas Tech University School of Law in 2014 and came back home to the Valley, where she has been practicing in diverse areas of the law, including family law, and civil law and litigation.

Her global perspective, experience practicing in several areas of the law, and representation of a diverse group of clients, provide her with a unique insight in her approach to client advocacy and case management and resolution. Ms. Ortiz is also a certified mediator and proponent of Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR). She is bilingual in both English and Spanish, allowing her to connect with and advocate for a diverse range of clients.

Before embarking on her legal career, Ms. Ortiz pursued her passion for music, studied Jazz Voice, and performed professionally as a jazz singer, bringing the same level of discipline, creativity, and poise to her legal work today. She loves to travel and often visits her family in Spain. She loves nature and lives with her two toy Aussies, Lucca and Miles (Miles Davis).
