Robin J. Fuentes and Robert Fuentes, Individually and As Next Friends of Robert Fuentes, II and Cassandra C. Fuentes, Minor Children vs. Pete Juarez D/B/A Juarez Tire Repair, Ford Motor Company, Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, Cause No. C-1846-04-C in the 139th Judicial District Court of Hidalgo County, Texas. Jaime A. Saenz served as one of five counsel representing Ford Motor Company in this case involving the single vehicle rollover of a 2001 Ford F-250 Super Duty Crew Cab Diesel 4 x 4 pickup truck, in which Robin J. Fuentes, who was driving, suffered a spinal cord injury that rendered her a C6-level quadraplegic ( no sensation or movement below the clavicle). Plaintiffs alleged that defects in the roof structure were responsible for the injuries. Prior to trial, Plaintiffs had settled with the other Defendants for claims involving allegedly faulty tires as a potential cause of the accident. Ford had claims pending that Mr. Fuentes bore responsibility for the accident due to alleged selection of tires incorrectly rated for the vehicle. Trial began on October 17, 2005, and proceeded until a confidential settlement was announced on November 7, 2005, shortly before the close of evidence.
