Winter 2007 - 2008

The attorneys of Rodriguez, Colvin, Chaney & Saenz, L.L.P. have continued to serve as periodic volunteers at recent Cameron County Community Justice Program clinics, most recently volunteering to assist at the November of 2007 clinic when attorney volunteers were in short supply.

The four named partners of Rodriguez, Colvin, Chaney & Saenz, L.L.P., Eduardo Roberto Rodriguez, Norton A. Colvin, Jr., Miitchell C. Chaney, and Jaime A. Saenz, were all named "Superlawyers" in 2007 by the Texas Monthly publication of the same name.

Eduardo Roberto Rodriguez has been named the Texas State Delegate to the American Bar Association National Convention for a three-year term beginning after this year's annual meeting in August of 2008, after an uncontested election.

Eduardo Roberto Rodriguez was named the Good Apple of the Year at the annual Appleseed Foundation Good Apple Dinner in Austin, Texas on November 8, 2007.

Norton A. Colvin, Jr. remains on the Texfas Pattern Jury Charge Oversight Committee.

Mitchell C. Chaney is on the Litigation Counsel of America.

Jaime A. Saenz has accepted the honor of a position on the International Association of Defense Counsel Trial Academy Faculty for 2008.

Jaime A. Saenz spoke on "Accident Investigations (Preservation of Evidence) Defense Perspective" at the Texas State Bar Continuing Legal Education seminar "Prosecuting or Defending a Trucking or Auto Accident Case" on September 27, 2007, in San Antonio, Texas.

Jaime A. Saenz has joined the firm's executive committee.

Joseph A. (Tony) Rodriguez has been appointed, among the Officers of the Federal Bar Association, South Texas Chapter, to the position of Brownsville Division Director.

Alison D. Kennamer is continuing to serve as a member of the Editorial Board for the Texas Bar Journal.

Teri L. Danish is now Chairperson-Elect of and continues to serve on the Women and the Law Section of the State Bar of Texas.

Teri L. Danish continues to serve on the Board of the Texas Legal Protection Plan, a Texas State Bar organization that services a potential pre-paid legal services plan for individuals in the State.

Teri L. Danish continues to be a member of the Individual Rights and Responsibilities Committee of the State Bar of Texas.

Teri L. Danish is the co-chair of the joint Labor and Employment Law Section for the Cameron and Hidalgo County Bar associations.

RosaMaria Villagomez-Vela continues to serve as the chair of the Young Lawyers' Committee of the Texas Association of Defense Counsel.

RosaMaria Villagomez-Vela has been appointed to the District 12 Grievance Committee of the State Bar of Texas for a 3-year term beginning July 1, 2007.

RosaMaria Villagomez-Vela and Sarah Nicolas have been named in the Texas Rising Starts 2008 publication.

Laura J. Urbis is serving as President-Elect of the Cameron County Bar Association.

Laura J. Urbis is serving on the Steering Committee for the Community Justice Program for the Cameron County Bar, which offers a pro-bono divorce clinic for county residents in conjunction with Texas Rural Legal Aid.

Eduardo Roberto Rodriguez is the chairman of the University of Texas at Brownsville / Texas Southmost College Development Board.

Eduardo Roberto Rodriguez continues to serve on the Board of Directors of the Brownsville Museum of Fine Arts.

Jaime A. Saenz remains a member of the Texas Bar Foundation.

Congratulations are in order for associate Derek T. Rollins, who married Assistant District Attorney Stephanie Colvin in Telluride, Colorado over the Christmas holiday.
